Ramadhan Genting Run ...

This was 100% unplanned. But thanks to the Letuangers ... I just can't help it ... too tempting....

Friday was the big day but only reached home at 8pm. Threw whatever I thought necessary to a bag and left. Boot was very kind to give me a lift. Reached Genting Sempah at about 9.30 pm. Many familiar and non familiar faces. Soon the non familiar became familiar. Met Dek-No, the girl who were just in front of me during the swim in PD. Jason the artist. FadhilUpiq’s friend. Btw, I saw live Upiq’s transformation. Last saw Upiq in Sk’s house last year open house. He has gone down probably half the size. Salute u my frind. Julie – minah power, ran all the way up. Many others …

SK left with his group at about 10pm walking and I started at about 10.15pm with Boot, Sue, Dek-No & Friend. We ran slowly and managed to catch up with SK’s gang and started to walk. It was uphill and probably walking speed is almost the same as running speed. It was walk-run-walk-walk-walk-run all the way. Reached mid point Goh Tong at about 12am. Decision point … to go or not to go. Waited for the rest and everyone managed to complete half way by 12.30am. Everyone was all fired up to reach the top.

Everyone marched on. SK and I did the run-walk-walk .. run again. It was becoming steeper and steeper and there one particular turn and I think it is the 4km mark, the is this almost 90d turn with an unbelievable elevation. I was simple stunned. No way I can ride on this type of elevation.

About 2km to the top, came across Kam who was just recovered from cramp. All 3 of us marched on. After a few meter I invited the gang to run and we ran slowly. But I got restless and impatient and broke away from Shazly and Kam. Suddenly I found me all by myself. It was so quiet that that i think you can hear a needle dropping. Suddenly I can feel hair raising from my neck. Scary suit ...

This got me a bit worried. Reminded me of a Malay horror movie, where the "thing" sit on the hero’s back and it never moves even though when he decided to fall off from the building.

Finally reached the police station at 0.5km mark and didn’t know where to go after that. So I waited for SK . But it was freaking cold and after about 15 minutes I could not take it any more. I moved forward to look for a building or something to take refuge. As I entered I saw Azmar, thank God, my sweater was in his car. I sprinted towards his car and put on the sweater and ran towards the Starbucks. As I entered the whole gang inside the Starbucks erupted with cheers and claps. It was hand shake and high fives next few seconds. I swept all the plain water that was on the table and went to the counter for more.

That was basically the trend for all the runners came through the door. Every single one was a winner that morning. It was record attempt and a record achievement. I think all the runners who started the climb ended at the top. I think only one thing brought us to the top. It is simple the determination. Our determination was just higher than Genting. So what seemed way above our head came below our feet with 3 hours.
It was a great day and another feather has been added to my cap. Another so called impossible is DONE. Doing it during Ramadhan is even sweeter.

Ramadhan 1st Run

Even though it is only "I" in hurricane sequence I am finally seeing some end to the "Hurricane Palantir" in the office ... but it is not over ...

Yesterday left home relatively early with a full agenda.

Immediately after reaching home at 6.30pm started stretching and made some powerbar drinks. After the azan, broke fast with dates (no drinks) and went for prayers. After prayer drank the powerbar drink and shot off for a run. When I started the run it was 7.28pm. Decided to do the 5.2km loop. I felt great despite still recovering from flu and fewer. Felt "free" again ... (after almost 10 days of no sweating). Completed the run at about 7.58pm. Dashed back home for a shower and FOOOOOD. I was pretty hungry by then. Just grabbed some "currypuffs" and off I went to the surau for "terawih". Surprisingly, the azan was just finishing when I reached the surau. So I can still do 7km and still make it on time for prayers. Terawih finished at 9.15pm and headed to the mamak restaurant for the heavenly "roti telur bawang" + Teh halia ...

what a day ... what a day ...

I am all fired up this morning ... bring on the hurricane ...
