My first report (
cheeewah!!!) hopefully not the last.
For the first time managed to woke up on time i.e. 4.30am. Did all the essentials
especially the toilet part and hit the road at 5am. Still worried about not finding the place ...
mangkuk !! Reach the
traffic light at the Western digital and instead of going straight i
pegi masul kanan ...
bodoh... after about 5 minutes managed to find a mosque and prayed (Still not sure where the heck I was) and did the toilet thing again and hit back the road hoping to find the Stadium. While driving looking for someone to ask I spotted some bright light in front of me ... that must be the stadium. So i
slammed the
accelerator and ... i came back to western digital again ...
mangkuk2 ... then only I saw the
tabung haji masjid ...
eee ...
geramnyer ...
ok lesson learned. I only managed to park outside the stadium and managed to do a quick warm up run to the gathering site. I went round and round and couldn't find the registration counter ... when i asked people they say ...
sana! ... then ask again ...
sana lagi !!...
mak aih jauhnyer ... then i heard from the speaker ... 5 seconds to start ... i threw the card at the officials and about to dash back when i heard the BANG!!!!
Apalagi pecut laaa ....
1st 5km was smooth but and crowd was amazing ... almost the the same as
KLIM. My hope to get a medal went off
immediately ... so my focus was more towards improving or maintaining my PD time. The next 5 km was still
ok. I could still see hundreds of people in front of me. We were already hitting the
Subang highway and this was where the
nightmare began. For the next 10km it was all straight route as far as your eyes can see. There appears to be no end point. I kept running and running and .... running and still there was no end point. After a while i saw the leaders on the other side of the road and quiet far in front there appeared to be a u turn. So I motivated myself to reach that u turn at least. I saw many more runners on the other side of the road. When I reached that round about we were directed to go straight ....
CILAKAK!!!!
HANTU!!!!!
JEMBALANG!!!!
SETAN!!!!!! and there appears to be no end to this road as well ....
OHHHHH MYYYYY GOOODDDD!!!!! This is where my i lost all of my mental
strengh ... I just ran so the sake of running. Finally i reached the intended U turn and now .... to run back ...
arrrrrgggggggg!!!!! Again i couldn't see any end point ... This was the worst mental torture I had ever encountered in any race.
When I reached the 4
th water station, I know it was16km and my timing was 1.35m. I knew if I push a bit I could make it below 2hrs. So I looked down and just ran my heart out ...
When I reached the stadium entrance my time was 2hrs and i know it was all over... but I
continued and i was so sad to see no officials along that road. Like a real marathon runner I entered the Stadium and gave all i got towards the finish line. I crossed the line at
2.03.57. As i crossed the line, the official stopped me!!!!
Apasalak ni, what did i do !!!! The official gave a card showing some number and when brought the card to the desk in front of hoping for at least a cert and I was monkey shocked (
terkejut beruk!!!) when
they gave me a MEDAL!!!!!!! Holly COW!!!!!!I couldn't believe the beautiful
Selangor Pewter Medal that I was holding. My position in my category was
193 and this was nicely crafted on the medal. The exclusive top 200 medal IS mine!!! ... that was the best day in my life. My thoughts went back to the 10km
Putrajaya Run less than a year ago, I didn't even get a medal even though it was given to top 500!!! All that 2 hours OF mental and physical tortures were suddenly worth it. I went back home fell sick with high fewer for the rest of the day. I don't mind ... whatever it is , I am now in top 200 half marathon runner at least in the
klang valley. Not bad for a person who started running less than a year ...

But frankly i think medals should be given to all the runners who completed the run within the qualification time. This should be the practise
throughout the country. We should stop limiting the recognition to certain number. We are not running for the medal but thrust me after that "horror" run if you give a medal, it would make a a lot difference and it motivates many new runners to join the run ....
beetuul tak???
Next Stop ... my debut full
duathlon, this time it is 10km run/ 50km bike/ 5 km run in
Putrajaya. Cut off time 4 hours. Will I make it??? Stay tune!!!
Before that
ada 10km run
kat my house next week ... flag off by
Datuk Azalina ...no joke!!!
